Privacy Policy Terms of Service

Overview

Kwagly is a quiz grading platform built for teachers. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Kwagly, how we use it, and what choices you have.

Kwagly is operated by KITS. By using Kwagly you agree to the practices described in this policy.

💡 Short version: We collect only what's necessary to run the service. We don't sell your data, show you ads, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

What we collect

Account information

  • Email address — used to identify your account and send transactional emails (verification, password reset).
  • Display name — the name you set in your profile. Optional.
  • Password — stored as a secure hash by Firebase Authentication. We never see your plaintext password.

Data you create

  • Classes — name, subject, grade level.
  • Students — first name, middle name, last name, and optionally a Learner Reference Number (LRN). No government IDs, photos, or biometrics.
  • Quizzes — title, item count, choice count, answer key.
  • Scan results — per-item answers, scores, confidence values, and the timestamp of scanning. Scan images are stored on your device only and are not uploaded to our servers.

Usage data

  • Basic telemetry: event names and counts (e.g. "quiz created", "sheet exported"). No personally identifiable information is included in telemetry.
  • Device information collected at scan time: operating system, device model, and app version. Used for debugging scan accuracy issues.

What we do NOT collect

  • Photos or images of answer sheets (these stay on your device)
  • Government IDs or biometric data
  • Location data
  • Contacts or calendar data

How we use your data

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating and improving Kwagly.

Storage & security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We protect your data with:

  • Email verification required before any data can be written to the database.
  • Request verification to ensure all traffic comes from genuine Kwagly app instances.
  • Server-side security rules that isolate each teacher's data. No teacher can read another teacher's classes, students, or results.
  • HTTPS enforced on all connections.
  • Billing fields (plan, subscription status) are locked server-side and cannot be modified by client code.
⚠️ No system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, change your password immediately and contact support@kwagly.com.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

  • All your classes, students, quizzes, and scan results are permanently deleted.
  • Your account credentials are removed.
  • Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

If you want to delete specific data without closing your account, use the Danger Zone in Settings.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — update inaccurate information (available directly in the app via Profile).
  • Deletion — delete your account and all associated data (available directly in the app via Settings → Danger zone → Delete account).
  • Portability — export your results and student data as CSV from the web dashboard.
  • Objection — object to processing in certain circumstances.

To exercise any right not covered by in-app features, email support@kwagly.com.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll notify you by email or via an in-app notice. Continued use of Kwagly after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
